Snell & Wilcox launches Impakt 3D DVE option for Kahuna SD/HD production switcher

2 January 2006

Hong Kong: Snell & Wilcox rolls out a suite of 3D digital video effects (DVEs) via Kahuna Impakt. The proprietary production switcher offers up to four twin-channel 3D DVEs, applicable in either SD, HD, or both. Advantages include switch-ability between source-based or bus-based modes, allowing both background and fill-and-key manipulation.
Kahuna's networked architecture gives users the option of controlling its DVEs directly from the main control surface or from a separate 1-M/E control panel. The DVEs can also be time-lined; which allows full key-frameable control; easy editing and pausing; and play/store recalls. "For the new Kahuna Impakt DVE option, we've combined eight channels of powerful 3D DVE with straightforward operational logic and time-saving pre-made effects. It also has the flexibility of a system that can be transparently integrated into the main Kahuna control surface or run from an external panel," says Joe Zaller, vice-president of marketing at Snell & Wilcox.
The Kahuna SD/HD Production Switcher is the first production switcher to offer simultaneous standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) operations in the same mainframe with the same control panel.
