Sea Patrol and Blue Water High cruise into new series

30 July 2007

Sydney--A second series of the Nine Network's hit drama Sea Patrol and the third season of ABC-TV's popular children's drama Blue Water High have secured funding from Film Finance Corporation Australia.
The FFC also approved investment in a number of other projects including Carla Cametti PD, a crime series with a young Italian female as the lead character, for multicultural broadcaster SBS and SBS Sales. Essential Viewing Pty Ltd's Scorched is a telemovie set five years from now when, after 600 days without rain, Sydney has run out of water and the city is then engulfed by fire; it's for the Nine Network, backed by Granada International, the NSW Film & Television Office, Sunday Night Movies and the Australian Film Commission.
Tom Blacket Media's The Cut is a 6 x 60 comedy drama exploring the soft underbelly of professional sport through a family-owned sports management company run by a colourful patriarch, for ABC-TV and Target Entertainment. Screentime's The Informant is a telemovie about an enigmatic guy who works for Australia's CIB, for Network Ten and Alchemy Television Group Ltd.
The FFC also agreed to fund two other children's series. Elephant Princess is a 26 x 30 about a girl who discovers she's the princess of a mystical kingdom, produced by Jonathan Shiff for Network Ten, Disney Channel, ZDF and ZDF Enterprises. K9, also a 26-parter, is centred on a character from the series Dr Who, a highly refined robot in the guise and personality of a dog. It will be produced by Stewart & Wall Entertainment Pty Ltd for Ten, Jetix and Park Entertainment.
Northside Productions' Blue Water High series 3 (26 x 30) is backed by Nickelodeon Australia, Southern Star International, AB Droits France and Cattleya Italy, as well as ABC-TV. Portman Media is the international distributor of McElroy All Media's Sea Patrol (13 x 1 hours) which is the No. 1 show in its 8.30 pm Thursday slot, pulling in 1.6 million viewers last week.
