Sea Patrol and Blue Water High cruise into new series

Sydney--A second series of the Nine Network's hit drama Sea Patrol and the third season of ABC-TV's popular children's drama Blue Water High have secured funding from Film Finance Corporation Australia. The FFC also approved investment in a number of other projects including Carla Cametti PD, a crime series with a young Italian female as the lead character, for multicultural broadcaster SBS and SBS Sales. Essential Viewing Pty Ltd's Scorched is a telemovie set five years from now when, after 600 days without rain, Sydney has run out of water and the city is then engulfed by fire; it's for the Nine Network, backed by Granada International, the NSW Film & Television Office, Sunday Night Movies and the Australian Film Commission.Tom Blacket Media's The Cut is a 6 x 60 comedy drama exploring the soft underbelly of professional sport through a family-owned sports management company run by a colourful patriarch, for ABC-TV and Target Entertainment. Screentime's The Informant is a telemovie about an enigmatic guy who works for Australia's CIB, for Network Ten and Alchemy Television Group Ltd.The FFC also agreed to fund two other children's series. Elephant Princess is a 26 x 30 about a girl who discovers she's the princess of a mystical kingdom, produced by Jonathan Shiff for Network Ten, Disney Channel, ZDF and ZDF Enterprises. K9, also a 26-parter, is centred on a character from the series Dr Who, a highly refined robot in the guise and personality of a dog. It will be produced by Stewart & Wall Entertainment Pty Ltd for Ten, Jetix and Park Entertainment. Northside Productions' Blue Water High series 3 (26 x 30) is backed by Nickelodeon Australia, Southern Star International, AB Droits France and Cattleya Italy, as well as ABC-TV. Portman Media is the international distributor of McElroy All Media's Sea Patrol (13 x 1 hours) which is the No. 1 show in its 8.30 pm Thursday slot, pulling in 1.6 million viewers last week.
