AMAZIA courting exhibitors and buyers

15 October 2007

Cannes - More than a year out from the inaugural AMAZIA exhibition and conference, 50 exhibitors have signed up already, plus 30 buyers from the Asia Pacific.
Giving a progress report on the event, AMAZIA director Franz Caduc expressed confidence that it will attract many companies which don't attend MIPCOM or the Singapore-based Asia Television Forum. He is convinced the trade show will serve as a bridge between music, video games, branded entertainment and other media platforms and distributors.
Among the exhibitors that have signed up are Korean broadcasters MBC and KBS, GDC Korea, Malaysia's MDeC, India's Zee Networks and Air Media, China's CITV, Beijing TV and Shanghai Media Group, the UK-based All3 Media and Cosgrove Hall, and telenovela distributor Dori Media, plus companies from Dubai and Taiwan.
Caduc expects 75% of participants will come from various parts of Asia, and 30% from the rest of the world, while the exhibitors will be split 50:50. He added that he will be specifically targeting new media players from China, India and Japan, very few of whom go to the Cannes markets.
China's film and TV regulator SARFT and the Shanghai Media Group have endorsed AMAZIA, the inaugural multi-platform exhibition and conference to be staged in Hong Kong from Nov. 17-20 2008.
