ESPN STAR Sports to offer mobile cricket content from India’s tour of Australia

Singapore - ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) has acquired mobile rights to the Indian cricket team’s ongoing tour of Australia which features 4 test matches, 15 ODIs and a Twenty20 International from Cricket Australia, to be exclusively available on mobileESPN and STAR Sports Mobile. It is the first time that a “comprehensive range” of mobile content from cricket played in Australia will be available on mobile in India.

mobileESPN and STAR Sports Mobile will provide video clips, wallpapers, animations as mobile downloads. Video clips will highlight key innings, fall of wickets and key wicket haul. Wallpapers and animation will capture key moments of matches and feature star players. mobileESPN and STAR Sports Mobile services are currently available on all the leading telcos in India including Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL and Aircel.

Sanjay Kailash, EVP, Ad Sales, Business Development and New Media, ESPN Software India Pvt Ltd said, “India’s young generation has taken to the Mobile space as a key medium to deliver (and) experience quality sporting content. The response to mobileESPN and STAR Sports Mobile has been very positive (and) we expect a lot of user activity during the India tour of Australia.”

mobileESPN & STAR Sports Mobile has aggregated an India in Australia zone on the WAP portal (wap.mobilespn.in) which can be accessed by GPRS users of Indian telcos. Also, both mobile services have created special cricket video packs which provide unmited downloads of video content for the test series at Rs.99 (US$2.50), or on pay-per-download.
