CASBAA to focus on mobile technologies and pay-TV advertising in 2008

19 November 2007

Hong Kong – CASBAA will focus on the increasing impact of mobile technologies and the further development of pay-TV advertising in 2008, said Marcel Fenez, Global Managing Partner, Entertainment and Media Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers, who was re-elected for a two-year term as Chairman at the 2007 AGM in Hong Kong.
Recommendations from the CASBAA Council of Governors include the need for CASBAA to step up initiatives in India and China; continue engagement with regulatory authorities in multiple markets; and promote industry development in Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea and India. "The next 12 months promise to provide a banner year for the pay-TV industry across the region and CASBAA's role will be to support industry growth wherever it can," said Fenez.
Newly elected to the CASBAA Board of Directors were Tom Keaveny, EVP and MD of Discovery Networks Asia; Todd Miller, EVP and MD, Asia, Sony Pictures Television International; and Anthony Tse, President, China Entertainment Television Broadcast. Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia, Peter Jackson, CEO of AsiaSat, Sompan Charumilinda, Executive Vice Chairman, TrueVisions, and William Pfeiffer, CEO of Celestial Movies, continue to serve on the CASBAA Board. Ian Carroll, SVP and GM, Turner International Asia Pacific was re-elected for a second two-year term as a CASBAA Board Director.
BBC Global Channel’s Nic van Zwanenberg, Granada International’s James Ross and Asia Broadcast Satellite’s Tom Choi stepped down from the Board.
