Rob Gilby named SVP & MD, Disney-ABC International Television, Asia-Pacific

Rob Gilby has been appointed to the new position of Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Disney-ABC International Television, Asia-Pacific. He will lead the growth of distribution and revenue for TV and film content developed by The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) through The Walt Disney Studios, ABC Television Network, ABC Studios, Disney Channel and Disney-ABC Cable Networks throughout Asia Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Korea, and other territories, excluding Japan.

His efforts will span across all platforms including terrestrial, pay, cable/satellite, telco, IPTV and technologies such as PPV, VOD, broadband, and mobile. Gilby will also work with Walt Disney International Country Managers, Disney Channel Managing Directors, regional teams and business development teams, as well as with other TWDC Divisions to develop overall media growth strategies, manage key client relationships, and lead deal negotiations.

Gilby was previously Managing Director, Disney Channel UK, Scandinavia & Emerging Markets, with responsibility for Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Toon Disney and Disney Cinemagic. Prior to joining Disney, he worked at Turner Entertainment Networks Asia where he was Vice President, Network Development and Strategic Marketing, responsible for marketing and strategic development activities for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Turner Classic Movies across Asia Pacific.
