Global Mediacom and Nokia Siemens Network partner for DVB-H mobile TV service in Indonesia

Nokia Siemens Networks, provider of business solutions including professional services, mobile technology and innovations; and Global Mediacom, an integrated media, broadcast, entertainment, and telecommunications group in Indonesia, are partnering to launch a commercial broadcast Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld (DVB-H) mobile TV service in Indonesia in the first half of 2008.

Scheduled to debut in Jabodetabek region in the first half of 2008, the service sees Nokia Siemens Networks Indonesia being responsible for the end-to-end systems and services including consulting, implementation of the broadcast solution and network, systems integration and relevant business applications. Global Mediacom is also in discussions with Nokia to provide DVB-H integrated devices including the Nokia N77 mobile handset, and work with Nokia Siemens Networks on joint marketing activities to increase adoption by Indonesian consumers.

The mobile TV service is expected to air news programmes, the upcoming Olympic Games, interactive TV shows, and broadcast TV series for compatible mobile devices.
