Hong Kong - Disney Channel has launched the Disney Channel subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in Hong Kong on PCCW’s IPTV service, now TV. The broadband service is the second in the region following Disney Channel Taiwan’s debut of full-length, Mandarin-dubbed and Chinese subtitled programming streamed online.
Disney Channel SVOD on now TV is part of Disney’s wider digital media strategy to cater to evolving media consumption habits of children and families who are increasingly adopting digital entertainment technologies. The service offers on-demand programming and encore viewing with selected programs refreshed and updated regularly.
now TV’s Disney Channel SVOD service offers Disney Channel shows Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, That’s So Raven, Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch, American Dragon, Emperor’s New School, and Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical. Pre-school channel Playhouse Disney’s shows, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Higglytown Heroes and JoJo’s Circus are also available.
PCCW’s TV marketing and content development executive vice president Janice Lee, said, “Our launch of this service specifically answers to the needs of our young audience who enjoy watching their favorite program unlimited times under a fixed monthly subscription plan, and allows parents to flexibly schedule their children’s viewing times without the constraints of a fixed program schedule.”
now TV’s Disney Channel SVOD service is currently available at HK$15 (US$1.90) a month on a 12-month contract, to existing Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney subscribers.
