Disney Channel Worldwide picks up Aardman’s Timmy

Burbank/Cannes – Disney Channel Worldwide including Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America have acquired global rights for stop-motion animated series Timmy from UK production company Aardman Animations. The preschoolers’ show will premiere in 2009 on Playhouse Disney channels and programming blocks worldwide.
Timmy, a short-form series, is Aardman’s maiden TV effort for preschoolers aged 2-5. The show’s protagonist Timmy, is a young sheep based on sketches by Nick Park, and was introduced on the series Shaun the Sheep airing on Disney Channels worldwide. Each episode will follow a day in Timmy’s life as he learns about himself and young animal friends in a stylized world. The series’ creative producer and supervising director is Jackie Cockle and executive producer is Miles Bullough.
Aardman Animations, based in Bristol (UK), co-founded and run by Peter Lord and David Sproxton produces feature films, TV series and commercials for the domestic and international market. Disney Channel Worldwide comprises 27 Disney Channels, ten Playhouse Disney Channels and nine Toon Disney Channels.
