SPTI and Electric Farm Entertainment to co-produce cross-platform titles

Culver City – Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) and Electric Farm Entertainment will jointly develop and produce cross-platform scripted comedy and action drama Woke Up Dead and Gemini Division respectively. Under the agreement, SPTI will exclusively acquire all international rights to the projects across all media including TV, theatrical and DVD releases, Internet, digital sell-through, as well as gaming and mobile rights. Marie Jacobson, EVP, programming and production, international networks, SPTI, said, “By getting involved with projects like Woke Up Dead and Gemini Division at the concept stage, we can tailor the video, web, mobile and gaming offerings to best suit our international TV, telco and ISP outlets and further establish SPTI as a home for producers from around the world to collaborate on distinctive cross-platform initiatives with the upside of massive distribution across our family-owned stable of networks and third-party partners.” Woke Up Dead, a live-action sci-fi comedy thriller that re-imagines the zombie myth, centers on college student Drex who wakes up dead. Gemini Division is an action drama featuring stop-motion animation and stars Rosario Dawson as a New York City detective whose investigations into her husband’s murder uncover a global conspiracy involving genetically fabricated life forms infiltrating the society. Both series will offer dedicated web content including archived episodes, character blogs and journal entries, wallpapers, online games and other forms of digital and interactive content.Woke Up Dead and Gemini Division are SPTI’s second and third multi-platform series with Electric Farm, following Afterworld which launched from 2007 across Asia, Europe, Canada, Australia and Latin America in multiplatform deals with mobile operators, ISPs and broadcasters. NBC Universal Digital Studio, the newly formed digital division of NBC Universal picked up US distribution rights for both series which will debut on nbc.com later in 2008.
