Hong Kong – Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) and Korea's KT Corporation inked a day-and-date VOD licensing deal for current and upcoming movies, and a VOD deal for new TV series, to be offered on KT's IPTV service Mega TV.The day-and-date agreement covers recently released movies including Vantage Point, The Water Horse, Across the Universe, and Stephen Chow's CJ7 which will be available on Mega TV on the same day as the local home video or DVD release. Upcoming shows including Will Smith's superhero action movie Hancock and Kevin Spacey's drama 21 will also be offered following the respective theatrical runs. The VOD deal for SPTI's new TV series will see titles such as Damages starring Glenn Close and Cashmere Mafia starring Lucy Liu, made available following the respective TV broadcasts.The deal with KT is the third day-and-date VOD deal that SPTI has signed, following agreements with KT's rival hanarotelecom, operator of Hana TV and Singapore's SingTel, operator of mio TV in 2007.Available since July 2007 to its 6.52million Internet users, KT's Mega TV service has a subscriber base of 590,000 as of April 16, 2008, and expects it to grow to 1.5million in 2008.
