Singapore to host 3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival

2 May 2008

Los Angeles – 3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival, the world’s first fully 3D-based film and entertainment technology festival will be held November 19 – 23, 2008 in Singapore. The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) will host the festival, with 3D Partners Ltd’s Jim Chabin to serve as 3DX executive producer of the five-day event. The festival is also supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
3DX targets to provide an international platform and convergence point for filmmakers and technology companies to showcase works to trade and consumer audiences, as well as provide opportunities to industry players to generate discussions on trends and developments in 3D. Current 3DX organizations and media sponsors include the Motion Picture Association (MPA), NBC Universal TV Asia, STAR India and STAR Movies. Other Singapore government agencies supporting 3DX are the Economic Development Board and Infocomm Development Authority.
The first two films chosen for the festival are Fly Me to the Moon, an animated family film from Belgium’s nWave Pictures featuring characters voiced by Kelly Ripa and Nicollette Sheridan, and Journey to the Center of the Earth, a live action adventure film from New Line Cinema and Walden Media starring Brendan Fraser. Highlights of the festival will include screenings of invited 3D films from participating media organizations and partners, forums featuring guest speakers, directors, 3D creatives, red carpet reception and event gala celebration along with entertainment events for the public. Information on 3DX is available at www.3dxfestival.com
