Singapore - MediaCorp is partnering with Japanese animation house Madhouse Inc with its investment into Yona Yona Penguin, a 3D CGI Japanese animation film created and produced by Madhouse Inc and France’s Denis Friedman Productions.
Produced at a budget of US$13million, Yona Yona Penguin is slated for worldwide theatrical release in mid-2009 in Japanese and French versions with English subtitles. Directed by Japanese animator Rintaro, creator of Astro Boy, Yona Yona Penguin follows the adventures of three characters from different worlds who travel to an enchanted land.
Lucas Chow, CEO MediaCorp said, “As an investor in the film, we see this as a first step to a potential long-term collaboration with Madhouse, one of the most reputable animation companies in Japan. As the distributor in Singapore and Malaysia, we will use our multiple platforms to publicize the film, (to) bring the film to as wide an audience as possible.”
