International Networks to distribute STAR’s Indian channels in the US

Centennial, CO/Hong Kong - International Networks, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Comcast and aggregator of multi-ethnic programming in the US, and STAR Group have signed a deal to have the former represent five of STAR’s Indian channels to MSOs in the US.
The five channels covered by the deal include STAR India Plus, India’s top Hindi pay-TV channel offering prime time programmes including soap operas such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thii, as well as reality and game shows; STAR India Gold which airs Bollywood blockbusters for the entire family; STAR India One, an entertainment channel targeting urban, upwardly mobile Indian audiences with programmes including drama Dill Mill Gayye and music show Bol Baby Bol; STAR India News which offers 24-hour Hindi news and investigative reports to consumer and environmental issues; as well as Tamil entertainment channel Vijay which features talent hunts, music shows, sitcoms, thrillers, reality shows and dramas.
Michael Scott, vice president of affiliate sales and marketing at International Networks said, “As the Indian American consumer segment has grown, so has the need for operators to have quality South Asian content to stay competitive. International Networks is excited to partner with STAR to provide five of India’s most popular channels to help MSOs better reach this lucrative demographic.”
