Advent Communications to show small, powerful satellite uplinks for HD at Broadcast Asia 2008

10 June 2008

Advent Communications will show the 1.5 metre version of its FlyDrive satellite antenna at Broadcast Asia 2008 with its 5000 Series electronics package. The 5000 Series is a small, lightweight, portable but powerful electronics package for SD and HD. The 1.5 metre FlyDrive is a lightweight satellite antenna with full 3-axis motorised control.
The 5000 Series units are only half the width of a standard 19" comms rack, making them ideal for flyaway and vehicle-based applications. The FlyDrive is designed as a flyaway system that can be temporarily installed onto a vehicle with longitudinal roof bars.
The DVE5000 Digital Video Exciter supports Standard Definition MPEG video
and High Definition. It comes with an integrated L-Band modulator and HPA
controller and can be upgraded from SD to HD in the field, without being
returned to the factory.
Advent's ACU5000 Antenna Control Units have manual controller and satfinder,
with optional upgrades to give automatic location of satellites and
alignment of the antenna. Advent's range of high performance block
upconverters takes L Band input and creates outputs for C, X, Ku, DBS and Ka
Bands.
Advent's 1.5 metre antenna and a basic, single thread 5000 Series electronics package can be shipped in five flight cases that conform to the IATA regulations for checked-in luggage on commercial airlines.
