3DI establishes new premier film scanning and grading facility in Jakarta

24 June 2008

Singapore/Jakarta - P.T. Tri Digital Intermedia (3DI) took steps to establish itself as a premier film scanning and grading facility in Indonesia, confirming its order for 35mm and 16mm film scanning and grading systems at the recently concluded Broadcast Asia 2008.
The Jakarta based facility ordered the Director 2K scanner from Laser graphics, featuring both 35mm and 16mm gates. The scanner produces 2K images and simultaneously, a Quicktime for offline.
Images will be graded on the new R-series Resolve from da Vinci. The R-200 non-linear colour grading and image enhancement systems offer real-time grading and rendering of HD and 2K images with a host of additional features for TV commercial and feature film grading. The dpx. files from the scanner will be stored directly on BrightDrive, which has both online and near-line volumes.
The Media Village of Singapore is the supplier and systems integrator for the project which commences operations on the 8th of August. “We are pleased to offer 3DI the latest technology from Laser graphics, Bright Systems and da Vinci Systems,” said Patrick de Silva, director of Media Village. “The trend of scanning film with pin registered scanners in preference to telecine is growing rapidly,” he added.
“3DI will offer customers from throughout the region quality film scanning and grading at affordable rates”, said Kris Irawan, company director of 3DI. “We see an opportunity for independent producers, agencies and directors to bring their film to 3DI to get the highest quality scans in Indonesia and the best creative grade on the da Vinci Resolve. We will also offer editing services to clients that need it, or our scanning clients can take their best light grade to their own facility for editing and VFX.”
P.T. Tri Digital Intermedia (3DI) is poised to meet the growing demand for quality film scanning in South East Asia. Client service is a key feature of its strategy and 3DI will provide complementary airport and hotel car service for all clients and have engaged a chef to offer Asian, western and French cuisine to clients.
The systems will be installed in early July for the August launch. Further information is available on +62 87 8805 95222.
