GlobeCast Asia successfully completes IPL Cricket broadcast

17 July 2008

India - The recently concluded Indian Premier League Twenty20 (IPL Cricket) proved to be the largest ad-hoc project to date for GlobeCast Asia, a leading provider of content management and worldwide transmission services for professional broadcast delivery.
The event entailed the broadcast of 59 matches each for World Sport Group and Sony over 44 days and across 8 cities in India. In addition, GlobeCast operated one fixed uplink for Sony at its central site throughout the 44 days.
Despite logistics and equipment failure surprises along the way, the event generally went off smoothly and without any signal delivery hitch.
GlobeCast utilised nine sets of uplink gear manned by a staff of 45 working full time on the project. The crew and gear moved from city to city every 3 days, rigged equipment at the new site, transmitted, derigged and then moved again to the next location throughout the event period, transmitting for a cumulative 550 hours.
GlobeCast was selected as the content delivery partner for IPL Cricket, bringing matches via its satellite and latest-generation fibre network to audiences in Asia, Europe, Australia, South Africa and USA.
