Hooperz first Malaysian film shot on RED One

22 July 2008

Malaysia - Hooperz, a new film which has just wrapped production, is the first feature shot on RED One 4K in Malaysia, and possibly Southeast Asia. The feature, co-directed by Moon and Dhojee, is a joint production between KL Motion Picture Company, MHZ Films and Grand Brilliance Sdn Bhd.

Two units of RED were utilized on set; the main camera provided by RSVP Manila and the second unit from MS Post KL. Camera and grip equipment were bundled through Professional Film Equipment KL.

The film is a coming-of-age story revolving around a group of girls who play for their college netball team. It was shot over a period of 20 days in June with a mix of 2K and 4K in a ratio of approximately 10:3. Director of photography on the shoot is Nan Sulong, one of Malaysia’s leading commercial DoPs.

KL Post is handling post-production with Naeim Ghalili overseeing post. Naeim has supervised and edited the bulk of major full-HD movies coming out of Malaysia in the last few years. There are over 20 CGI shots in the film. Animation is supervised by Black and Azizi Chunk.
