CNN opens third newsgathering operation in India

6 October 2008

CNN announced the opening of its third editorial operation in Mumbai, India, as well as the appointment of Mallika Kapur, currently a London-based reporter, as the network's Mumbai-based international correspondent effective immediately.
"Owning and creating content is growing our business, on television, online, with affiliates and on new digital platforms,"said Parisa Khosravi, senior vice president of CNN International newsgathering. "India has one of the fastest growing economies in the world and it makes sense for us to have a correspondent in Mumbai that can report for both our news and business programs."
The expansion of operations in Mumbai, India's financial capital, will support current CNN bureauX in New Delhi and Chennai to develop the network's coverage in India. Kapur will join the network's existing two correspondents in India - Sara Sidner in New Delhi and Liz Neisloss in Chennai.
