Strong momentum in China-Singapore media collaborations

24 November 2008

Singapore - Led by a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) on media cooperation between the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) and the People's Republic of China's State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), the China Film Festival 2008, co-organized by SARFT and MDA as part of Asia Media Festival (AMF) 2008's line-up of events will be opened to the public from December 10 at Golden Village cinemas.
The week long festival will feature a total of six films. It is part of the MOU to co-organise film festivals in China and Singapore in 2007-2008 respectively signed between the Film Bureau under SARFT and MDA during Singapore Season in October 2007.
China, represented by CCTV and SARFT, will also debut at the AMF 2008 Country Showcase organized by MDA. The showcase will feature speakers with whom Singapore has co-production agreements and MOUs with - including Australia, Canada and China.
It also serves as a platform for government and industry representatives from China, Australia, Europe, Germany to network and share information towards facilitating
international co-productions between each other.
An ASEAN-China forum on the topic of media collaboration is also on the cards. Singapore will play host to the ASEAN-China meeting to discuss possible areas for media collaboration, to be held at the sidelines of AMF 2008, following the China-ASEAN Summit Forum on Radio and Television held in Beijing in April this year.
