Australian Writers and Art Directors Association honours Asia-Pacific works

The Australian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD) honoured the most outstanding creative work in the Asia Pacific region last month in a ceremony held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney.

A record number of 10 Gold winners were awarded, with the overall number of winners tallying 206, 13 less than 2007 even though there were 620 more entries across the region. Multiple Gold winners were; Lowe and Rivet Sydney for Welcome Snoop, Leo Burnett Advertising Sdn Bhd for Tan Hong Ming and Exit Films for Schweppes Burst.

AWARD Network of the Year went to the BBDO Network, AWARD Agency of The Year went to Lowe and Rivet Sydney and MTV Networks Australia was proclaimed AWARD Client of The Year.

The Wake Up Thailand series for D7 Coffee post-produced by Thailand’s Oriental Post (advertising agency: Creative Juice\Bangkok (TBWA), production house: Phenomena) consisting of Public Service Office/Bill/Queue won a Bronze award in the TVC - 30 seconds campaign category, while Bill and Queue won a Bronze award each in the TVC - less than 30 seconds individual category.

In the TVC - over 30 seconds campaign category, the Worry Free series for Bangkok Insurance Plane/Valet Parking/Beam (advertising agency: Creative Juice\Bangkok (TBWA), production house: Phenomena) brought home a Bronze award, while Plane also won another Bronze award in TVC 30 seconds individual category.

• TBWA\China - Adidas Olympic, Hu Jia - Print Craft - Art direction
