Al Jazeera expands reach in Africa

Doha, Qatar - Al Jazeera Network announced the launch of its Al Jazeera Mobile SMS alerts service with African partners Africell in Sierra Leone and Strike Media in South Africa.

The new Al Jazeera Mobile service will give new subscribers access to the Network’s news coverage and continues Al Jazeera’s initiative to employ a variety of technologies to distribute its content. Mobile users are now able to choose from Al Jazeera Mobile’s politics, sports, economics and breaking news services for key updates straight to their mobile phones or PDAs.
