Angel Orengo to succeed Pollack as SVP distribution at Sony Pictures Television

17 July 2009

Hong Kong - Sony Pictures Television (SPT) announced today that Angel Orengo has been named senior vice president, distribution, Asia-Pacific.

Relocating to SPT’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong, starting 1 August 2009, he will oversee SPT’s distribution efforts in all of Asia, plus Australia and New Zealand. Orengo reports to Keith Le Goy, SPT’s president, international distribution.

“Angel has brilliantly led the expansion of SPT’s distribution business throughout Latin America,” said Le Goy. “Angel inherits a fantastic distribution team that has made us an active partner for our clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region. I am confident that with his leadership and innovative ideas, we will build even stronger ties with our partners.”

In his new position, Orengo will oversee the distribution of all SPT programming throughout the Asia-Pacific region. SPT’s licensing executives based in Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai and Sydney will all report to Orengo.

Most recently Orengo was based at SPT’s Latin American headquarters in Miami where he served as SPT’s senior vice president, distribution, Latin America and the Caribbean since 2007. He was previously SPT’s vice president, distribution, Latin America and the Caribbean, since in 2004. From 2000 to 2004, he served as SPT’s regional director, Mexico, where he opened and established the local SPT advertising sales operation in Mexico City. From 1999 to 2000, Orengo was SPT’s director, pan-regional sales, based in Miami. He joined SPT’s Miami office in 1998 as senior account executive.

Prior to SPT, Orengo was international advertising sales executive for CBS Telenoticias in Miami and account supervisor for La Agencia de Orci & Asociados in Los Angeles. He began his career at Telemundo in New York in 1992 working in research and marketing and then went on to Los Angeles where he joined the network sales team.

Orengo assumes duties previously held by Ross Pollack, senior vice president, distribution, Asia, who is leaving SPT to become CEO Celestial Pictures.
