Siggraph Asia 2008 ranked Association Conference of the Year

9 November 2009

Siggraph Asia 2008 was awarded the Association Conference of the Year Award by the Singapore Tourism Board in the inaugural Singapore Experience Awards. The award recognises association conferences and the organisers that have demonstrated excellence in organizing and delivering a quality event.
The Siggraph Conference is based in the United States and is known as the ACM Siggraph (Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics).
Lee Yong Tsui, conference chair of Siggraph Asia 2008, said: "For the ACM Siggraph association, this is a great honour and an endorsement of its successful conference format and the incredible dedication of its volunteer members, chapters and contributors globally. It will also encourage the association to further its efforts to help bolster the art, technology and talents in the region."
"Siggraph Asia 2008 enriched Singapore's conference landscape and provided a unique visitor experience in its combination of art, technology, science and industry programmes. It was an event that brought in different communities in the computer graphics industry all in one location in Singapore," Lee added.
Michael Dreyer, managing director of Koelnmesse, which is the appointed conference and exhibitions management company for SiggraphAsia, said: "Winning the award would be an affirmation to our long history of organising successful international conferences and exhibitions."
