Cartoon Network Enterprises remains strong in 2009

Hong Kong - Cartoon Network’s range of Ben 10 toys, books, gaming consoles and home entertainment flew off the shelves in 2009 despite the gloomy economic conditions.
Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), the licensing and merchandising arm of Cartoon Network, announced during the 2010 Hong Kong International Licensing Show, that it achieved consistent growth throughout 2009 and is set for another year of expansion with new products, partners and markets.
The Ben 10 franchise has experienced three years’ of consecutive growth in Asia Pacific with Ben 10 the no. 1 boys’ action figure brand across Southeast Asia. Global Ben 10 toy partner Bandai has sold over four million Ben 10 toys in Asia Pacific alone with the Ben 10 Alien Creation Chamber and the Ultimate Omnitrix two of the hottest items on every boy’s wish list.
Cartoon Network Enterprises engages over 138 million consumers across Asia Pacific via a myriad of exciting products and platforms. During 2009, CNE saw the expansion of their gaming products to seven platforms including Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation. The home entertainment business continues to be a key driver for CNE with six new partners confirmed in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Philippines and India covering formats ranging from VCD, DVD to Blue-Ray. CNE is also working with brands such as McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Nestle, Kellogg’s, and Singapore Airlines releasing 40 million pieces of promotional premiums.
Globally, Ben 10 Alien Force and Vilgax Attacks, two new console games released in 2009, sold four million units contributing to $345 million in overall annual retail Toy Sales worldwide for Ben 10 products.
