USA: Luxology LLC, an independent technology developer of 3D content creation software, has launched The Alley, a set of six video tutorials on modo's modeling, painting and baking tools for 3D assets. Featuring more than three hours of instruction by Luxology's Andy Brown, the training videos offer guidance on modo's toolset to produce 3D objects and scenes which can be used in game, film and video production. The Alley tutorial series employs modo, imageSynth and Adobe CS 3, and was developed with input from Seneca Menard at id Software. The first album focuses on creating real-time assets and includes videos on low polygon geometry and UV mapping; normal and ambient occlusion baking; as well as object painting. The second album concentrates on texture painting and baking for real-time objects and level design with videos on structuring and texturing a game level; additional instruction on object painting; and baking illumination.Sample geometry and images, including 14 "grime" maps suitable for use with modo's image ink feature, are also provided along with downloadable movies that accompany The Alley training series.The Alley videos can be purchased at US$10 each or in two separate albums at US$25 each at www.luxology.com/store/training_series06.aspx.
