iTX banks on new broadcasters for growth

17 June 2010

Singapore - The emergence of new broadcasters is predicted to help fuel iTX’s growth in the future, says Iain Wood, director of sales at OmniBus Systems Middle East and Africa.

Speaking at BroadcastAsia, Wood says the company is seeing new broadcasting facilites pop up in countries such as India, Philippines, Europe and even the US.

Within the Asia region, some of OmniBus Systems’ recently signed clients include Ascent Media in Singapore and Malaysia’s Astro B.yond. The latter will screen the finals of the World Cup using iTX infrastructure.

Currently, Wood says broadcasters are leaning towards product solutions that have quick installations and require a lower number of hardware pieces to build. Clients are also moving towards the use of standard IT off-the-shelves hardware for television applications, says Wood.

"And that is what has given iTX the edge in the new systems marketplace in broadcasting. We no longer require very expensive top-end video broadcast servers."

As a result, not only will broadcasters save on smaller infrastructures, but Wood says they can also save on smaller incidentals such as audio routers, cabling, rack space and energy costs.

"It’s not just the fact that the core system is less expensive by not having to buy the top-end expensive broadcast devices, there’s a knock-on effect as well," he says.
