VHQ Post turns to Baselight for colour grading

22 June 2010

Singapore - VHQ Post, a subsidiary of VHQ Media Holdings, has purchased a Baselight HD colour grading system from FilmLight for its Malaysian facility in Kuala Lumpur.

Southeast Asia’s largest and most-established post-production network, VHQ Post offers a complete range of services to clients in the Southeast Asian region and beyond. At the core of VHQ Post Kuala Lumpur’s new digital workflow, the Baselight HD will provide a resolution-independent, non-linear colour grading and high-performance conform and finishing platform for its commercial clients across the region, for projects acquired in any digital or data format, but in particular for projects originating on RED Camera, VHQ said in a press statement.

Designed to simplify complex grades and effects, Baselight HD works directly with the RAW file format of today’s latest digital cameras and integrates seamlessly into video and data-centric workflows, enabling real-time performance and in-context grading. This means that all the scenes of the project can be assembled on several concurrent timelines and graded in the sequence as they would appear. This provides VHQ Post’s clients greater scope when seeking stunning results in a multitude of resolutions and colour spaces, while easily accommodating EDL or grading revisions as they occur.

The most powerful creative grading toolset available, matched with the ergonomic Blackboard control surface and a high performance GPU renderer are just some of the reasons that Baselight has established itself as the industry’s leading non-linear colour grading system. VHQ will also benefit from FilmLight’s extensive direct support services that complete the package.

Low Kok Wah, Group Managing Director of VHQ Media, said, “Baselight complements VHQ Post’s existing fleet of equipment and colour grading is at the heart of the creative process. It is our goal to set new standards in speed and quality when it comes to meeting the increasingly sophisticated needs of our clients while ensuring a highly-flexible workflow.”

Scott Craig, Managing Director of FilmLight’s regional offices in Singapore, said, “FilmLight is committed to providing world-class solutions to the top facilities in Asia and around the world. We are delighted to be working closely with VHQ Post.”
