AXN tops rating chart with CSI Trilogy premiere

16 August 2010

Singapore/Hong Kong - AXN put together a CSI three-franchise crossover that aired back-to-back in a three-hour marathon on AXN across Asia on 28 July 2010. The buzz for the CSI Trilogy pulled in over 1.4 million viewers across Asia, and trounced all competition amongst pay-TV international channels in key markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The CSI Trilogy featured a crossover trilogy that spanned all three shows of the global hit TV franchise - where leading cast Laurence Fishburne from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was called in to help with a case that began in Miami, which later developed further in New York, and only got solved in Las Vegas. The highly anticipated television event was screened seamlessly in a three-hour marathon on AXN.

In Singapore, the CSI Trilogy emerged as the number one English program in its time slot on StarHub, with cable 4+ ratings at more than three times the ratings of the next closest competitor. Within the pay-TV universe, AXN outperformed terrestrial Channel 5 for both cable 4+ and PMEB by 30% and 89% respectively (source: Kantar Media Singapore, Philippines / AGB NMR Malaysia, Taiwan, CSM Hong Kong).

Equally impressive were the results from Malaysia, where the PMEB audience gave AXN a rousing applause with its strong showing, beating even the vernacular channels and making AXN the number one channel on Astro.

The Philippines and Hong Kong concurred with AXN rating as the number one ad-supported international channel; while Taiwan also went to the top of the chart, with ratings of cable 4+ and PMEB at 13% and 75% higher than the next highest rated English channel respectively.
