Top 3 projects in the last 12 months:
1) Honda CR-V
Directed by Antonio Saraceno, this TVC features the new Honda CRV speeding through a tunnel and then through four seasons. The snow scenes utilized large amounts of fake snow shot on location in Jakarta and went through heavy post production work. Cutting Edge added falling snow and digital matte paintings of the snow scene and enhanced the mood of the Autumn and Spring scenes by combining footage shot on location and in the Jakarta studio with animated butterflies, leaves and opening cherry blossoms.
2) Yamaha
Directed by Cutting Edge's animation director, Ian Anderson, this 2D animated TVC was created for Yamaha Taiwan through Dentsu. Cutting Edge modelled and previsualized the products in Maya to provide a reference to the 2D team. Five 2D animators, one Maya artist and a scan/paint artist worked on the commercial by tracing the drawings with marker pens, having a separate texture layer, then scanning and painting in Toonz. The final product was composited in Shake, with SNR.
3) Toshiba
The Toshiba commercial was directed by Mark Toia from Zoom Film & Television. Toia filmed the live action sequences and background plates to enable the Cutting Edge VFX team to do compositing. Cutting Edge's head of compositing Jeff Gaunt integrated the greenery into the lounge room.

1) The Bank Job
Directed by Roger Donaldson and produced by Charles Roven and Steven Chasman, The Bank Job is a 110-minute feature film shot in the UK, Australia and Sardinia based on a true story stars Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows. Digital Pictures post produced the show, providing multiple digital negatives, HD and SD deliveries as well as Avid edit suites. The VFX and animation group, Iloura, created the opening titles, digital matt paintings and 3D scenes.
2) Night
Directed by Lawrence Johnston, Night was shot in the night on 7 different formats. The S16mm and 35mm film was scanned using the ARRIScan at 2K and compiled the other formats including HDCAM, DB, BSP, HDV and HDCAMSR in Smoke before being upressed in TIPS to HD. Grading was done in Lustre and was recorded with ARRI Film Recorder to 35mm Kodak Estar. Multiple digital intermediates were done from the ARRI Film Recorder to prevent degradation of the images.
3) Prey
Prey was the first P2 feature film shot in Australia under the direction of George Millar. The P2 data was edited on FCP at full HD resolution before an upres in TIPS. It was then graded on Lustre and recorded to 35mm film with the ARRI film recorder.

1) Toyota Racing Development
FSM worked on director Bruce Hunt's series of commercials for Toyota Racing Development with agency Oddfellows and production company @ radicalmedia. Live action film, stock footage, motion and graphic design, 3D, grading and compositing were brought together in the commercial as FSM's head of design, Brendan Savage worked with Hunt from preproduction to ensure it was dealt with in a subtle way.
2) Fox Sports Football
Following FSM's re-branding of the National Rugby League, the company was engaged to create a new on-air identity package consisting of game openers and closers, play-ons and play-offs, as well as ingame graphics for Fox Sports Football. The new design revolves around the dramatic moments in the game including goals, headers and tackles displayed in super-slow motion.
3) Clubland
Directed by Cherie Nowlan and produced by Rosemary Blight, FSM extended its collaboration with RB Films by performing DI on feature film Clubland in August and September 2006. The DI process involved scanning of the 35mm/3 perf negative with the NorthLight scanner, colour grading on the Baselight and finishing VFX and compositing titles on Flame. FSM also created the HD Video Masters as part of the DI process.

1) Charlotte's Web
Iloura completed over 57 shots for Paramount Pictures' Charlotte's Web. The team built four 3D pigs to cover the hero character Wilbur over the 12 months that the story unfolds. Iloura's character animation was recognized with a nomination at the 2007 VES Awards
(Los Angeles).
2) Triomphe
Filmed on location in Shanghai, this commercial builds upon the existing historical French-Shanghainese connection. Using 3D animation, VFX and design it merges architectural landmarks from Paris and China in an energetic science fiction-inspired launch of the Citroen C- Triomphe.
3) Bluebird
Created in 3D space by Iloura Melbourne for client Publicis Mojo New Zealand, the latest Bluebird TV commercial continues to employ the BlueBird logo - a penguin - on its animated journey.

1) Body Paint
The Body Paint TVC for Samsung PAVV was shot and post produced in HD as well as broadcast in Korea in HD. Working with agency Tohokushinsha Film Corporation and production company Bada Productions, the TVC saw The LaB Sydney's team work on effects to look like ink, ribbon, liquid and trails of colour, totaling 490 hours of 3D work.
2) Colosseum
The 30-second Colosseum spot's sword swinging character was designed, animated, directed and graded by The LaB Sydney's artists who worked with agency George Patterson Y&R for Arnott's Pizza Shapes.
3) Laughter is the Best Medicine
The TVC for Camp Reality features a boy in hospital being entertained by his caregiver and his hair grows with his increasing laughter. A 3D skull cap was created and used to match a child's bald head for some of the hair growth shots. The LaB Sydney collaborated with Whybin TBWA and Exit Films.

Digital magic provided special effects and post production for the music video of Everyone is No. 1, the theme song for the 2008 Paralympics. The music video stars Hong Kong actor and singer Andy Lau.
3) Crazy Stone
The company provided digital intermediate work and film output for movie Crazy Stone from mainland China, directed by Ning Hao.

1) Gone with the Wind
G1 Post Group worked with Ogilvy & Mather for the 30 second spot for Paramex. It was shot using miniture background plates, with base colour grade done on Datamill and final compositing and colour correction completed on Autodesk Flame Tezro.
2) Wings
The 60 second TVC for Dji Sam Soe Filter saw 80% of the aircraft featured being completed in 3D and composited in with a real aircraft for a realistic look on-ground and in the air. Mountains, buildings and clouds were also created in 3D by Epix Studios. Colour grading was done on Datamill, with an offline edit and a final online as well as compositing completed on Autodesk Flame Tezro. M&C Saatchi was the agency for the commercial.
3) Lovely Girl
The 30 second spot for Stella through agency Advantage had colour grading done on Baselight 4, while final compositing and colour correction was completed on Autodesk Flame Tezro.

1) 28 Weeks Later
Prime Focus completed DI on the feature and created 2D and 3D visual effects using its extended infrastructure collaborating between London and Mumbai over its secure and high-speed pipeline. Prime Focus' feature film team created a number of the film's photo-realistic 3D military vehicles and aircraft, and contributed to VFX shots in the film. DI work included grading and conforming, de-spotting and producing the intermediate negative.
2) Guru
With the feature's setting progressing from India of the 1950s to the present, Prime Focus created different colour grades for the film to reflect the progression. Mumbai city of the 1950s was created with high-resolution matte paintings and compositing to the scenes.
3) Jaaneman
VFX was an inherent element of the narrative for Jaaneman. The film starts in the space station which was completely created using photo-real 3D environments and VFX was used to make one of actors appear as a dwarf-like character. Transitions and glossy grade were also added to the narrative.

Pantene Hair Fall Control TVC for Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. APV worked with production house Regional Films and agency Grey Malaysia.
2) The Boat That Ezra Built
The Petronas TVC was made in conjunction with the 50th Independence celebrations in Malaysia. Agency Leo Burnett and production house MHZ Film collaborated with APV for the spot.
3) Heritage Malaysiana
Heritage Malaysiana is a documentary which explores the technological features and advantages of traditional Malay houses and its interpretation in the face of modern innovations and architecture. Heritage Malaysiana was produced by APV, in support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

1) Rounin
Rounin is an epic fantasy series helmed by director Erik Matti for Philippine TV network ABS-CBN. Larger Than Life was responsible for the special effects and editing style. Larger Than Life color graded every scene with its Nucoda Film Master.
2) Victory
Victory is a 30-second spot featuring Vic Sotto, the Philippines' most successful actor at the box office. The TVC, also directed by Erik Matti, had the protagonist gain superhuman powers of elongation from his hit movie based on Filipino comic book hero "Lastikman" to promote the product of canned sardines.
3) Forward
Forward is a 60-second spot directed by Pedring Lopez to feature the Development Bank of The Philippines' projects in the country. Shot on blue screen, all backgrounds were done in 3D and later composited into the shots. The commercial's climax shows a modern Philippines, also modeled in 3D unfolding.

1) Brotherhood
Brotherhood is a 30-second TVC for Milo promoting Philippine youth football. Set in a CGI stadium, actual players were shot on a soccer field with blue screen set in the background with tracker marks to allow CG animators to track camera movements per shot. The stadium was built, populated and tracked using Maya, while all final compositing and blending were done on Flame.
2) Noise
Noise is a 30-second spot for the launch of the 2007 Mazda 3. The car was shot against chroma background with tracker marks to allow tracking of camera movements. Optima concurrently designed the 'city of lights' in After Effects during the shoot. Different shots were tracked and virtual sets were created. The final composite was done on Flame's 3D space, merging the light elements with the chroma shot of the car to form a virtual city.
3) 3 Billion
3 Billion is a 30-second TVC for telco Smart Communications where viewers are 'zoomed' to cities including New York, Riyadh, Tokyo, Paris and Sydney. Each city was layered in post by compositing several talents amidst stills and footages of landmarks in the city. The lead compositor devised the zooming effect for the 2 Flame and 3 Smoke suites which were working concurrently to ensure the shots came together in the master edit. A final grading pass with the da Vinci 2K Plus helped blend the shots.

Pisay is a co-production feature film with Solito Arts productions which won a number of awards in the recent Cinemalaya 2007 Festival including Best Director, Best Production design, Peoples choice award, and was also Rated A by the cinema evaluation board.

For Unilab, through agency Jimbasic and production house Production Village, Citrus Crush shows the energy drink with electric streaks constantly revolving around it. It was edited and composited on Quantel eQ.

1) Close-Up Lovapalooza
The TVC required extensive outdoor live shoots and 3D animation, compositing, matte paintings and digital color grading. Directed by Stephen Ngo, the TVC took one and a half months to finish with a 6-man creative team performing on-set supervision, 3d animation and compositing.
2) Nescafe 3-in-1
Nescafe features a production design intensive studio shoot combined with heavy compositing, matchmoving, and 3d elements. Director Sid Maderazo's concept took a month to complete with a 5-man creative team handling on-set supervision, compositing, and rotoscoping. Additional elements included wire removal, set extensions, set creation, and multi-layer digital color grading.
3) Greenwich Delivereach
The Greenwich Delivereach TVC was a collaboration of Underground Logic's 2D and 3D workflows. After the illustrations were submitted, Director Jose Ticsay proceeded to supervise the 3d compositing and digital color grading.

2) HP2701p
Featuring the new HP 2710p Notebook PC, this spot is a continuation from HP's Hands' campaign. With the actors as the only live element in the spot, Blackmagic Design designed and created a range of high-end photo-real CG elements for the TVC.
3) Dance of the Dragon
Produced by Easternlight Film Productions, Dance of the Dragon is a feature film made in Singapore and stars Jason Scott Lee, Fann Wong and Jang Hyuk. Blackmagic Design pioneered an advanced post pipeline for the project that includes dailies scanned at 2K and offline in HD.

1) Men In White
Iceberg provided DI for the feature with final output as 1.78 aspect DPX data files for printing to film master. Accurate pre-visualization of finished film was achieved using custom LUT calibrated for Kodak 2383 premiere stock. Services rendered include; editing, color grading, versioning and titling. Total of 6 weeks taken to film DI master.
2) Anna & Anna
Provided part of the DI and visual effects for this 1.85 aspect feature film which was acquired on 35mm. Selects were scanned as raw DPX files for the effects team. Services rendered include; digital backgrounds, stand-in replacement and compositing. Total of 4 weeks to EFX DI master for film conform.
3) ARMS
Comprising 3 short films for the Army Museum of Singapore, ARMS is a multicamera HD production shot on the Varicam, with the finished film delivered to a standing audience in a theatre via 9 projectors and 5 screens with each showing a unique picture of the story. The multi-screen and perspective viewing experience is complemented by other physical effects. 26 weeks were taken from filming to DI master for digital projection.

2) Seasons
This commercial for Toyota Corolla in China involved the use of motion control cameras, and the interior of the car was fully built in 3D. Directed by Francis Khymberly Tan, the production house was Possible Films from Shanghai and the agency was Dentsu Beijing.
3) Reveal your inspiration
This spot for Toshiba Regza TV is based on many fast cuts in post, and displays the quality and colours that the Toshiba Regza television set offers. Infinite Frameworks worked with agency Asatsu-DK Singapore and production company The Shooting Gallery, Singapore.

1) TVS Apache
VHQ overcame the constraints of a short timeframe and devised a method of execution that provided quality with seamless movement between CG and live-action footage. Every shot required extensive VFX work to provide a surreal experience for viewers. The TVC was produced by Ravi Udaywar Films.
2) Coca Cola
Scheduled to air during the Chinese New Year festive season, the spot required intensive use of particle effects to depict the mysticism and magic of a traditional Chinese New Year. VHQ artists wrote and customized special particle effects tools to create the imagery for the spot. VHQ worked with McCann Erickson on the spot.
3) DBS Altitude
From conceptualization to production, VHQ worked closely with Ogilvy & Mather, Singapore, to create the 20 second 3D and motion graphics spot to launch the DBS Altitude Card. With a classical music score to support the images, the result was a mesmerizing spot.

Lemon is a TVC for PS toothpaste produced by Sud-Est Production and agency Lowe Vietnam. It is a fresh take on toothpaste commercials as it involves complicated CG flow simulations of thousands of lemons, interaction between real characters and objects, and photo real CG rendering.
2) Stability
Stability is a spot for Nissan Teana, working with production house Triton and agency TBWA Thailand. Special 4K scanning techniques were applied for the cleaver "Car Window" transition from a peaceful situation to a restful feeling while driving the Nissan car.
3) The Go Master
Oriental Post worked on film, The Go Master, by Century Hero Film Investment. Directed by Zhuangzhuang Tian, this film from China is based on the autobiography of Wu Qingyuan, a genius Go player who dominated the game for over a quarter century.
