Adobe workshops point the way to streamlined workflow

Adobe Production Premium CS4 delivers a more streamlined workflow as the tools are now able to integrate Premiere Pro with Photoshop CS4, After Effects, Encore and Flash workflows.

Pete Brownstein, business development manager Dynamic Media (Asia Pacific) of Adobe Systems Pty Ltd told participants at the Adobe workshop that a key feature of the Premiere Pro CS4 (PR) is the ability to edit AVCHD footage from most camcorders natively. This eliminates the need for transcoding. Premiere Pro CS4 counts as the only native AVCHD editor on the Mac and one of only a few on Windows. Support for these file formats is provided not only by Premiere Pro, but also in After Effects.

“Adobe CS4 Production Premium also tackles the challenges of tapeless video on a variety of fronts. As far as format support is concerned, it supports a wide range of popular tapeless video formats, including the XDCAM format developed by Sony, the P2 format used by Panasonic's professional camcorders, AVCHD as well as the increasingly popular RED format.”

Premiere Pro CS4 offers another feature that can be strategically important in deadline-driven production environments: Adobe's editing environment can work with native files directly on the memory card or even the camera hard drive, eliminating the need to copy files to the local workstation for editing.

Adobe CS4 Production Premium also offers the possibility of capturing video from tape-based cameras, using OnLocation CS4, so footage can immediately be used in Premiere Pro and other video editing solutions. The ongoing live demo workshops are held at the Panasonic Seminar Room (Hall 8, Booth 8J2-06) at BroadcastAsia 2009.
