Cameron, Katzenberg to guest at 3DX Festival

Los Angeles/Singapore: Acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron of Alien and Titanic fame will be the special guest at the inaugural 3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival.

Also participating are DreamWorks Animation SKG chief executive Jeffrey Katzenberg and 20th Century Fox Film Entertainment chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos who will open the proceedings with the 3DX business forum in Singapore on 19 November, 2008.

The five-day 3DX festival will feature screenings of films like Journey To The Center Of The Earth, starring Brendan Fraser, and Fly Me To The Moon, voiced by actors Nicollette Sheridan and Tim Curry.

The 3DX festival and forum will take place from 19 - 23 November, 2008 and comprises a business forum and film festival including public screenings, festival based showings of newly released 3-D films, international speaker sessions and a gala red carpet reception.

Cameron is a big proponent of making movies in 3D and believes that digital projectors going into movie theatres are capable of showing more than just movies.

He suggested such locations could show live sports and events, alongside impressive travelogues and other content. Cameron’s 3D movie Avatar, which debuts next year, is one of the most eagerly awaited titles.

The festival is produced by Chabin Partners in Los Angeles and hosted by the Media Development Authority of Singapore with support from the Singapore Tourism Board, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and Singapore Economic Development Board.
