Disney airs supernatural thriller The River internationally within 24 hours of US premiere.
London/Hong Kong/Burbank – The Walt Disney Company today announced that The River, a supernatural TV thriller, is set to premiere in South Korea on Fox within 24 to 48 hours of its US debut on February 7, and in India and Hong Kong, both on StarWorld, a few weeks later.
This is the first time a series distributed by Disney Media Distribution will launch in such close proximity to the American premiere on such a scale. The show has already been licensed to 182 territories including Poland, Norway and Israel. Additionally, audiences in the UK will be able to watch the series on iTunes from February 8, just 24 hours after its US broadcast on ABC.
From executive producer Steven Spielberg and the director of Paranormal Activity Oren Peli, The River follows the story of world famous wildlife expert and TV personality Dr. Emmet Cole, host of the beloved series "The Undiscovered Country”. After Cole goes missing deep in the Amazon, his family, friends and crew set out on a mysterious and deadly journey to find him.
