Double Negative gets VFX nods from BAFTA

London - Double Negative's work on Inception has received a nomination for Special Visual Effects in this year's BAFTA awards.

DNeg has enjoyed a long relationship with Inception director, Christopher Nolan, having worked on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (for which DNeg’s VFX Supervisor, Paul Franklin, was nominated for an Academy Award). This strong relationship led to the company creating the vast majority of the VFX for Nolan’s films with New Deal Studios supplying the miniatures. Inception presented a mammoth creative and technical challenge to Double Negative, calling for mind-bending visual effects, such as the city of Paris folding in on itself and the creation and destruction of the modernistic Limbo city, and has been critically acclaimed since its release.

The 2011 British Academy Awards (BAFTA) will be held on February 13.

Inception also leads the pack with four nominations for Film in this year's VES awards, three of which are for DNeg work: Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Feature Motion Picture, Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture and Outstanding Compositing in a Feature Motion Picture.

DNeg has also been honoured with a VES nomination for the Paul Greengrass film, Green Zone, in the Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Feature Motion Picture category.

The London and Singapore based company also worked on four of the seven films presented at the Academy Awards 'bake-off' in Los Angeles: Inception, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Iron Man 2 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. The final Academy Award nominations are due to be announced on January 25th, 2011.
