Japan discovers 3D VOD

Singapore - Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP) today announced it will start distributing 3D programmes in Japan for the first time.

3D content will be made available through J:COM On Demand, a VOD service operated by Jupiter Telecom, and LISMO Video Store, operated by KDDI.

“This 3D content offering provides viewers with a ‘closest to real’ viewing experience from the comfort of their own homes. It is a small initial step, but I am excited that we have begun moving into this innovative field", said James Gibbons, senior vice-president and general manager, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific – Japan.

From August 1, viewers will be able to watch 3D content on the J:COM on Demand service. Programmes can be accessed through a special 3D button on the service screen or by clicking on the 3D Contents option on the LISMO Video Store.
