Key industry players to join SIFF animation symposium
Singapore - This year, The 24th Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) will hold an animation symposium for the first time. Michael Lim, who curated the animation segment of SIFF, helped organize the two-hour discussion, which will take place at School of Thought on 24 September. The symposium will feature a slate of key industry players including Bertrand Ong from Double Negative, Mike Wiluan from Infinite Frameworks, Stuart McAra from Industrial Light and Magic (Lucasfilm) Singapore, and K.C. Wong from Sparky Animation. Philip Stamp from One Animation will moderate the event.
In conjunction with Jim Henson’s 75th birthday, SIFF will also host the Asian premiere of rare and exclusive Muppets footage.
This year’s festival, with the theme ‘Watch Different’, will be screening 144 feature films, up from 87 last year. “[We] want to challenge filmgoers to start exploring films they would not normally consider; hence for them to ‘watch different’,” Geoffrey Malone, chairman and founder of SIFF said in a press statement.
SIFF will open on 15 September with ‘Red Light Revolution’, a comedy directed by Sam Voutas, which offers a witty take on the sexual liberation in modern China. Critically acclaimed documentary ‘Senna’, which chronicles the life and works of racing legend Aryton Senna, will close SIFF on 25 September.
