Let your imagination run wild

Singapore – Entertainment channel Syfy is giving young filmmakers in Asia the chance to explore their imagination to the fullest. The brand, which brings exclusive programming in the science fiction, fantasy, paranormal and adventure genres to the region, announced that it is organizing a short film competition to search for up-and-coming talents in the region.

Dubbed as “Syfy Shorts”, this is the first time the entertainment channel is extending to Asian viewers a chance at showcasing their works on primetime television.

The competition seeks interested parties to submit an original five-minute film that is of science fiction, paranormal, adventure and fantasy genres. To further the challenge, participants have to incorporate the channel’s theme of “Imagine Greater”, either as part of the storyline or dialogue.

Renowned industry experts will join the jury to determine which entries will make the cut. The panel comprises Singaporean filmmaker and director Eric Khoo, Managing Director of award-winning visual effects and animation studio Infinite Frameworks, Mike Wiluan, Taiwanese Director Lin Yu-Hsien and Syfy’s VP of SEA Channels, David Gunson.

Syfy will be hosting the competition on-air and online at www.syfyuniversal.asia.
