Multi-platforms draw multi-million viewers

Multi-platform offerings of the 2011 Formula One season on ESPN STAR Sport’s various channels (STAR Sports, ESPN HD and online via the ESPN Player), have resulted in the content provider drawing more than 20 per cent of total pay-tv audiences in Malaysia.

The inaugural race at the Australian Grand Prix confirmed Malaysia’s reputation as a major motorsport-viewing nation, as the event saw nearly 25 per cent more male cable viewers aged 15 years old and above tuning in to the live broadcast over the same race last year.

This positive start continued with the Malaysia GP live broadcast, which attracted 33 per cent higher average audience viewership among male cable viewers aged 15 and above, over the last year.

By the mid-way mark of the 2011 season, more than 2 million fans have watched the first ten Grand Prix races on STAR Sports.

On the online platform, this season saw an 80 per cent increase in terms of content consumption on ESPN Player during the race weekends compared to last year.
