New features for Sony PMW-F3 include 3D Link option
Singapore – Sony has announced new features for its PMW-F3 professional handheld digital production camcorder with a Super 35mm imager: 3D Link capability, options for RGB 4:4:4 and S-LOG output and a wide-angle, high-power zoom lens.
The 3D Link option (model CBK-3DL01) will be available in November for Asia Pacific via a firmware upgrade and 10-pin cable connection. This communication link is designed to provide synchronous remote command between two PMW-F3 cameras using only one remote controller, with Genlock, timecode and camera control. Recording start/stop can be done by remote control.
RGB 4:4:4 and S-LOG output capabilities are available through the CBK-RGB01 option. It comes pre-loaded with four LUTs and five user LUTs for monitoring in S-LOG mode, with a planning meta optional function included.
Two lenses will be available for the PMW-F3: the SCL-P11X15 PL mount wide-angle zoom 1.5x with a focal length range of 11-16mm and speed of T3.0 will go on sale in November; and the SCL-Z18X140 FZ mount high power zoom 14.0x with a focal length range of 18-252mm and speed of T3.8 will be available in Asia Pacific in December.
The new PMW-F3L compact digital camcorder has a basic list price of US$17,540.
