Panasonic master class by Barry W. Green gives network insight

Participants at the Panasonic Master Class at the Sinema Academy of Motion Pictures Limited, conducted by Emmy Award winning producer, Barry W. Green, learned of the extensive deployment of Panasonic AG-HPX-302 in USA’s NBC network. The AG-HPX- 302 camcorder, rated as world's first affordable 10 bit, 1920X1080, 4:2:2 camcorder made for a sensible option during tough economic times.

The camera not only captures full native 1920 1080 HD resolution, but allows professionals to record at a quality level without the compromise of 8-bit, long GOP, 4:2:0 recording. The AG-HPX 302 provides master-quality, 10-bit, and 4:2:2 individual frames capture using award winning AVC-Intra codec

In this camcorder, Panasonic uses advanced MOS technology based native 2.2 million pixels with three 1/ 3" MOS sensors each having 1920 X 1080 effective pixels. With high-precision prism bonding technology, these advanced imagers provide exceptional image quality while minimising smear or chromatic aberration.

Green went on to outline the HPX302’s advanced gamma functions which provided six shooting scenarios, including the popular Cine-Like Gamma modes found on Panasonic's popular VariCam, This feature gives recordings the characteristic warm tone of film recordings. The camera's interfaces include two SDI outputs (switchable between HD/SD-SDI output), video output (down-converted SD video only), IEEE 1394, USB 2.0 interface compatible with host mode, time code input/output (with built-in SMPTE time code generator/reader). The HPX302 is equipped with a widescreen 1,226,000-dot Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) colour viewfinder and a widescreen 921,000-dot 3.2-inch LCD color monitor.

During BroadcastAsia 09, Green will be giving master classes on the AG-HPX302EN P2 Camcorder and AG-HMC152EN AVCCAM camcorder at the Panasonic seminar area (booth no. 8J2-06) three times a day from 16 - 18 June.

The Panasonic Systems Asia Pacific display (booth No. 8L3-01) features a 3D theatre solution in full high definition (HD). The showcase features a dramatic 10-minute 3D movie made in Thailand, shot in full HD with Panasonic’s P2HD AVC-Intra camera (AJ-HPX3000).

The mini theatre includes a 5.1 surround sound system, 2.7m x 1.5m silver screen and two full HD DLP projectors (PT-DZ6710) capable of conveying images that practically jump off the screen. Panasonic will also demonstrate live 3D broadcasting, capturing the action in its studio on the show floor and projecting on its theatre screen in real time.
