SIFF makes big return
One of Asia’s most highly anticipated film events, the Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) returns for the 24th time from 15 to 25 September 2011.
This year, the event aims to introduce film aficionados to a wider offering, as well as provide a platform to develop the thriving local film industry.
More than 100 international and Asian films will be showcased, including the spectacular 3D documentary, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, by Werner Herzog, as well as riveting German 3D dance documentary, Pina.
Besides film screenings, aspiring filmmakers can also expect to participate in movie-making workshops on propmaking, visual effects, camerawork; talks by local filmmakers and companies; well as an animation symposium featuring animation/VFX studios such as Lucasfilm and Blackmagic Design, Infinite Frameworks, Double Negative and One Animation.
This year’s film festival will also see the annual Silver Screen Awards held at the newly-refurbished Shaw Lido on 23 September 2011.
