Technicolor 3D Solution Spotlighted at Asia's Premiere Filmed Entertainment Showcase
Technicolor will feature prominently at the 16th annual CineAsia confab, which runs December 7 – 9, in Hong Kong.
The Show brings together approximately 1,000 motion picture exhibitors and distributors from across Asia who will have the opportunity to network, preview upcoming film offerings, experience new technologies and interact with representatives from major Hollywood studios.
At the show, Technicolor will present its Technicolor 3D solution, which is currently installed on more than 300 screens in North America, and has recently launched internationally in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan.
Thailand, the first country in Asia to deploy the Technicolor 3D system, currently has four installations with several more in the planning stages. Further deployments in Australia, India, Korea and the Philippines are also being discussed.
Tim Meade, manager of the Technicolor 3D sales and marketing team in Asia will be presenting “3D for Everyone!” on Wednesday afternoon at the show.
"We're honoured and grateful to have the opportunity to present Technicolor 3D at CineAsia. Technicolor 3D is an excellent ‘bridge-technology’ solution that offers exhibitors to an affordable way to offer 3D, thus, enabling a greater number of consumers to enjoy the unique 3D experience," Tim Meade commented.
In October 2010, Technicolor Asia commissioned an independent academic research department from noted Sripatum University in Bangkok, to conduct an exit poll of viewers watching a movie in Technicolor 3D and in Digital 3D. A majority of the participants in both sample groups had a positive perception of the 3D quality and experience.
Overall mean scores from both sample groups were statically defined as “very good” with 96.6 % of both sample groups responding they would watch more 3D movies in the future.
