Winners of MediaCorp Young Creatives Competition to represent Singapore at Cannes Lions 2011
Singapore - The winning teams of the MediaCorp Young Creatives Competition have been selected, and they will represent Singapore at the Cannes Young Lions Competition 2011 in the film and print categories. The Cannes Young Lions Competition is part of the prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, to be held in France from June 19 to 25.
The winning print team comprises Karan Dang and Celeste Ang from JWT/XM Singapore. Suhaimi Saadan and Naresh Kumar from DDB Singapore emerged the top team in the film category. The winners were announced at the Results Night event on April 7. This year saw the introduction of the film category, marking the first time that Singapore will be represented in the Cannes Young Lions Film Competition.
Both teams will receive four-day passes to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2011, return air tickets from Singapore to Nice and hotel accommodation. They will also represent Singapore at the Young Spikes Creative Competition at Spikes Asia 2011 and receive 3-day passes to the event which will be held in Singapore from September 18 to 20.
Participating teams were given 48 hours after receiving the brief to complete their entries – a short film for the film category, or a print ad campaign for the print competition. This year’s non-profit cause for the competition theme was public education of illegal sex trafficking in the region, supported by the Singapore National Committee for UN Women.
Into its third year, the MediaCorp Young Creatives Competition seeks to nurture budding creative talents in the local advertising scene. The competition is open to all young creatives below 28 years of age working in creative agencies based in Singapore, who must form a team comprising one art director and one copywriter to qualify.
