Technicolor Bangkok launches new DI facility

Technicolor Bangkok will officially launch its Digital Intermediate facility on 19 March 2009 with a gala cocktail party and walk through. The new state of the art facility compliments its well known digital sound services and traditional laboratory services.“With the launch of the new Digital Intermediate department, we can effectively serve a long form project from front to back under one roof - from the drop at the lab and the digital dailies, film scanning for the online conform and theater color grading to film record, answer and release printing,” said Michael Balabuch, manager of Digital Images for Technicolor Bangkok.Balabuch who was formerly based in New York, has worked on DI of such films as ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ‘Prairie Home Companion’ and many others. Balabuch brings a wealth of management and workflow knowledge to Technicolor Bangkok’s new digital facility.“We not only have a world-renowned Lab and well established creative services in our Sound Dept – we have now added HD, 2K and 4K data work flows to the mix,” Balabuch added.Also joining the digital team in Bangkok is New Yorker Steve Calalang who takes on the position of Colorist. Calalang began his career as a camera assistant but most recently, he has worked as a preferred freelance colorist employed by Technicolor Creative Services, Deluxe, Post Logic and Postworks in the USA.With the new DI facility coming on line, Technicolor Bangkok now offers DI services in Asia that provide filmmakers with a comprehensive range of creative options for post-production, regardless of how or on what medium content were originated providing high artistic quality which has always characterized Technicolor.Using da Vinci Resolve suites, IMAGICA scanners, SMOKE editing (Arri and Celco film recording), Technicolor brings internationalization of technical standards which are accepted worldwide to Asian film makers.
